ABOUT KATIA
Katia Marten is an Entrepreneur and Costa Rican architect based in and currently living in Toronto, Canada. Katia is the founder of the Costa Rican architecture firm Katia Marten Arquitectos (KMA Architects) and the Toronto based Property Development firm (KMD Group). Katia is also a dedicated martial arts practitioner. She believes in this ancient art's ability to influence the ethical use of power that respects the relationships between individuals in society.Katia strongly believes that people should do to the others what they would like others to do to them resulting in a mutual respect. Apart from architecture she is also a tireless activist for social causes including the prevention of abuse against children, women and men in communities in Costa Rica and around the world. She is the co-founder of the The World Hug Foundation which is an organization that helps the vulnerable in societies to prevent abuse by teaching various systems of protection. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, nature walks and good movies. This blog will be chronicling Katia's experiences in her new home of Toronto, Canada featuring the architecture, landscapes and culture of the city. As an independent woman over the age of 50, Katia aims to show individuals the world over that they can be their best and live their life to the fullest at any age. Her motto is that "When you give the best of yourself to the world you will be fulfilled, blessed and continuously evolve towards becoming a better living being". She hopes to inspire individuals of all ages to pursue their passions and dreams the way that God has planned for each one of us.
